Next door to eternity
Conscious of being,
I consider you.
Long for you to share my vista--
Spectacular view of beginnings,
View of moribund and joy-filled
Events of every day.
Speculation of future events.
Hope transcends all.
And you my dear a constant,
Here but not here,
Part of the yesterday, yet today--
So you read a poem and you wonder what it means. I won't tell you what this poem means to me. Read the words. They mean exactly what they say on one level. What do they mean to you? Your interpretation will be a reflection of your own life experiences. A poem cannot be interpreted with no regard to the meanings of the words, of course, but since poets use metaphor to explain their stories, the same poem may mean something deeper to one person than to another. What does this poem mean to you?
If you care to share a comment about it, please do. A poet always appreciates a reader.
